Slurry pump impeller introduction
The impeller of a slurry pump refers to the wheel plate equipped with moving leaves and the general term of the wheel plate and the rotating blades installed on it. The impeller is the key component of the slurry pump, is the energy transfer to the liquid with a blade of the rotating body, it is composed of a number of curved blades.
Impeller’s functions:
The role of the impeller is to transfer the mechanical energy of the prime mover directly to the liquid, in order to improve the static pressure energy and dynamic pressure energy of the liquid.

Slurry pump impeller classification
1. According to the mechanical structure of the following main forms, slurry pumps are classified to closed, semi-closed, and open.
(1) Closed impeller
By the blade and the front and rear cover plate composition. A closed impeller has higher efficiency, is more difficult to manufacture, and is the most used in centrifugal pumps. It is suitable for conveying clean water, solution, and other clean liquids with small viscosity and no particles.
(2) Semi-closed impeller
The semi-closed impeller is suitable for conveying materials that are easy to precipitate or slightly contain particles, and its efficiency is lower than that of a closed impeller.
(3) Open impeller
The open impeller is suitable for conveying materials containing more suspended matter, and its efficiency is lower, and the pressure of the conveyed liquid is not high.
2. Its suction mode can be divided into the single suction type and double suction type.
(1) Single-suction type has a simple structure, and the liquid is sucked from one side only.
(2) Double-suction structure is more complex, liquid from both sides of the inhalation, with a larger suction capacity.
